Angela M. Moffett, OTR/L - Best In Patient Care

Angela M. Moffett

The American Health Council appointed Angela M. Moffett, OTR/L to its Occupational Therapy Board. Currently an occupational therapist and the Rehabilitation Director of Amedisys Home Health Care in Elma, N.Y., Ms. Moffett treats her own patients and oversees certified occupational therapy assistants (COTA) and registered occupational therapists (OTR). While she has held her current role for 11 years, she has spent the last 23 years in the healthcare industry expanding her skills and knowledge in occupational therapy, geriatrics and orthopedics.

After her father-in-law was left a quadriplegic because of a fall, Ms. Moffett was inspired to pursue a career as an occupational therapist. She cared for him and worked with him diligently, and that experience led her to eventually enroll in Syracuse University’s occupational therapy program. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy degree in 2001, Ms. Moffett immediately began helping others in long-term rehabilitation facilities as well as home care.

At Amedisys Home Health Care, Ms. Moffett provides contemporary training education to other OTRs and physical therapists. She performs onsite visits, yearly reviews, precepts new employees on therapeutic techniques and briefs them on the home care field. Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Moffett is proud to be certified in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, Balance for Life Certified and Dementia Certified. To continue to expand in her field, she is a member of the New York State Occupational Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association.

In her free time, she enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle by golfing, hunting, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Additionally, she volunteers at various facilities and performs pro bono occupational therapy work for families in need. With a successful career at hand — one that she attributes to her empathy and passion for her patients — Ms. Moffett plans to continue to educate others about the occupational therapy field.
