Melissa Gonzaga-Lee

Dr. Gonzaga-Lee grew up in the Philippines and always knew she would pursue a career where she could really help people and make a difference. Initially, she took physical therapy as her pre-med course, but fell in love with it so much she decided to dedicate her remaining studies to the field. She graduated with a BS Cum Laude in Physical Therapy in 2006 from Davao Doctors College and followed this with her doctorate, which she received in 2014 from Evidence of Motion: Institute of Health Professions. Her prowess in this field is clearly illustrated by her award of Class Valedictorian for her BS degree. Her qualifications do not end there, as she is a Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist and also certified in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation.

Dr. Gonzaga-Lee has always been encouraged to follow her dreams to work in the healthcare sector and has been constantly supported by her family, who also work within this industry. Similarly, her family contains architects, engineers and allied professionals who also encouraged her to develop professionally throughout her career. She credits her successes to the continual support that she received from these individuals.

Dr. Gonzaga-Lee currently works at The Montebello on Academy senior living institution, which provides a broad range of care options for those who require further life assistance. These include autonomous living packages as well as options for those who require increased levels of help within the Montebello on Academy residence. The institution also offers short stay options for those who require some respite or some extra care from experienced professionals. For Dr. Gonzaga-Lee, her responsibilities include supporting patients through their diagnosis and providing them with top-level care and rehabilitation.

Dr. Gonzaga-Lee has previously been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association between 2010-2015 and plans to resume this membership in the future. Additionally, in relation to her future goals, Dr. Gonzaga-Lee hopes to begin sharing her hard-earned knowledge with future generations through becoming a clinical instructor or, or possibly as well as, a corporate trainer. She is also keen to move up in her career towards additional responsibility or management positions.

In her personal life, Dr. Gonzaga-Lee has two dogs, a bullmastiff named Gertrude and a Cane Corso called Sage. These dogs assist her in her career as much loved therapy dogs. Her husband also works within the healthcare industry as a Medical Device Consultant for DePuy Synthes Spine. Together they enjoy a wide variety of activities including archery, hiking, weightlifting as well as watching movies and exploring all New Mexico has to offer.
